What does it means?

Code:
checking for kernel version... The file /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h d
oes not exist.
Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
sources (default is /usr/src/linux).
I get this message at the time of compiling the driver for my sound card.

Output of lspci:
Code:
0000:00:1b.0 0403: Intel Corp. 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 03)
.
What should i do now? i am using Debian sange

Any body using this sound card sucessfully? (it was working, i forget the process to install it)

It means that you don't have the kernel source installed, or at least it can't find it if you do (as it may be in a directory other than /usr/src/linux). Install the kernel source package for your distro. Ok, I've pretty much repeated what it says, but it's pretty self-explanatory.

can you post the content of ur /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h
I need this because it's getting the kernel. See the output.

Code:
checking for directory with kernel source... /usr/src/linux
checking for kernel version... The file /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h does not exist.
Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
sources (default is /usr/src/linux).

The point is it's probably not just that file that's missing. Have you looked in /usr/src/linux? If it's empty then your kernel source is not there. Edit: also, I'm probably using a different kernel version to you anyway.

Install kernel-headers or linux-headers for your kernel
