SS20 Will not boot w/o CD-ROM attached

Yeah, I got this old sparcstation 20 MP from school everything is OK if the cd-rom is plugged in..at the ok prompt type boot disk and flys into debian.
Unplug the cdrom from the system and it can't boot into the system.
Cd-rom isn't mine and have to give it back soon, so I got no clue why the system won't just boot from the disk.
Error I get by the way is:
Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000/sd@3,0 File and args:
Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package

Can't open boot device

Then returns to ok prompt.
Sometimes it shows SILO 1.4.9 after File and args: then the Can't read disk label etc...and back to prompt.
I got boot-device set to disk3 (only 1 drive and on bottom), diag-device is also disk3, autoboot is on.

Had this question in solaris forum and went through a bit of things in solaris but yeah, wrong OS...link http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...15#post2245115

Anyone who sheds light on it thanks,
Xorgroth

Try accessing BIOS and remove your CD-ROM drive from your boot priorities. Usually, you get into BIOS by pressing <Delete> after you turn your computer on. If that doesn't work, try looking at your manual for your motherboard to see how to access it.

It's a sparc by sun microsystems, not a PC. Solaris forum wasn't all that helpful, redirected me to the debian forum instead.
Everyone so far I've talked to says they have never seen this before, so might be a dead end.
