Hi i'm new to Debian (i installed it yesterday on a vmWARE box), and my problem is I don't know a way to start KDE. And also how to make it start automatically. I've been using FreeBSD and even if i didnt manage to get it to start automatically i gave the commands xinit and startkde and I was ok. But now with Debian those don't work! Can somebody tell me how am I going to do it ?
If you're on the cli, enter the startx command. That should start KDE. Inside KDE there should be an option about the login screen, and that should give you the option to log in automagicaly. As I'm a Gnomy I can't help you in detail

Even better ! I didn't know Gnome was included in the DVD!!! Can you please tell me how to set up gnome to start automatically? And when I say automatically, I mean it ! When the system boots up, I want to see a graphical login screen and then when I logon, Gnome!
Install the GDM window manager. Reboot and when asked which DE you want to use, choose Gnome. Log in and have a look at the Login Screen Setup (Applications -> System Tools) Provide the root pw when asked for, adjust according to your desires and close. The next boot Gnome does it all for you
