Seg fault (vbetool start) Debian Etch

Hya,

My Penguin (Debian Etch on Toshiba laptop Satellite Kernel 2.6.17.14) complains at boot saying Segfault at vbesave.
reproduced error message is
Code:
# /etc/init.d/vbesave start
Saving VESA state...Allocated buffer at 0x11010 (base is 0x0)
ES: 0x1101 EBX: 0x0000
./vbesave: line 12: 2467 Segmentation fault vbetool vbestate save >$VBESTATE
.
#
I reinstalled acpi-support package, but no success. Also, web search went without success. I am not sure when this message started. It was middle of startup messages.

Any suggestion will be appreciated!

Happy Penguins!
