I have always had difficulty mixing stable, testing, and unstable. If I have to go to unstable, I upgrade the whole distro. That seems to fix these types of problems. Basically, you have the apt program trying to handle dependencies that make it freak out. It wants you to explicitly request the problem libraries because it knows that you will have to upgrade not just KDE but other QT programs.

As for the USB mouse, you probably should install discover and hotplug to autoidentify the hardware connected to your computer. Then, if you are using a 2.6 kernel you will want xserver to use the /dev/input/mice and a 2.4 kernel should use the /dev/psaux. Run 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86' to make your changes ('uname -r' will show you the kernel you are running).

For sound it also depends on what kernel you are running. 2.6 kernels can and should use the ALSA settings which should be autodetected by discover.

Open "kuser": from taskbar System>Kuser. Click on your user name, then click "edit" and make sure you are added to the "audio" group.

Sound activated

Thanks for the advice, it worked like a charm. One more question...

How do i add 'display' to my peripherals in control center? It's not listed there yet.

Lokizen

Linux is the wave of the future, and thanks to everyone, i have the surfboard...

Postscript: Instead of messing with the screen, i'm going to buy a bigger monitor!
Still, though, i would like to have display show up in control center, any ideas?
Thanks a googleplex in advance!
