Unhappy problem with compil kernel!!


when i try to compile my kernel 2.4.26 with debian sarge 3.1...i give an error
when try to configure with on of these commands:

make menusonfig or make xconfig ...i give an error dependency....


Unable to find the Ncurses libraries.


how can i compile my kernel....an solve this problem...
?

You need to have the ncurses libraries installed (libncurses5 and libncurses5-dev packages). IIRC, you'd need some qt libraries as well for menuconfig. For xconfig you need some gtk libraries installed...I don't remember exactly which ones but if I find out I'll let you know.

when i use synaptic and search for Ncurses can't find this package......

What was the exact word have you performed the search for? Maybe it's a typo. Also, is the /etc/apt/sources.list pointing to the repositories the right way?

Install libncurses5 and libncurses5-dev packages using apt-get/synaptic utility. And for a graphical compilation you need to have the GTK libraries.
