problem with apt-file or package??

Hi, Penguins.

It may not be the right place to ask this question, however,

I am using Debian etch.

I want to install foiltex.

Code:
# apt-file search foiltex
foiltex: usr/share/doc/foiltex/README.Debian
foiltex: usr/share/doc/foiltex/changelog.Debian.gz
foiltex: usr/share/doc/foiltex/copyright
foiltex: usr/share/doc/foiltex/readme.flt.gz
foiltex: usr/share/doc/texmf/latex/foiltex/foiltex.pdf.gz
foiltex: usr/share/doc/texmf/latex/foiltex/sampfoil.tex.gz
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/source/latex/foiltex/foiltex.dtx
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/source/latex/foiltex/foiltex.ins
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/source/latex/foiltex/readme.flt
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/fltfonts.def
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foil17.clo
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foil20.clo
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foil25.clo
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foil30.clo
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foils.cls
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foils.sty
foiltex: usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/foiltex/foilshrt.clo
tetex-doc: usr/share/doc/tetex-doc/help/Catalogue/entries/foiltex.html
#
however
Code:
a# aptitude install foiltex
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading extended state information
Initializing package states... Done
Reading task descriptions... Done
Building tag database... Done
No candidate version found for foiltex
The following packages have been kept back:
  initramfs-tools linux-image-2.6-486 udev whiptail
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 4 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 0B will be used.
Writing extended state information... Done
apt-file can locate "foltex" package, but aptitude cannot.

Shall I just wait for several days? or if I should contact, who is the right person? aptitude? foiltex? or somebody else?

Thanks,

Happy penguins!

foiltex is definitely in the etch repositories. Is your sources.list file right?

Thanks for replies.

rickh: I think sources.list is correct, because "apt-file search" works.

nx5000: same result.

Just out of curiosity, why use apt-file search instead of apt-cache search? I use apt-cache a lot, but have not used apt-file yet.

Thanks.

With apt-cache or dpkg or dlocate (this one is very fast) you can search in packages installed on your machine.

With apt-file, you can even search in uninstalled packages.

Another one is debtags, very usefull.
