patching and rebuilding

Hello,

I have an eMachine M5312 with an ATI IGP 320M graphics chip. I would like to configure XWindows to support this chip. I found several online resources: in a nutshell I would like to know how to patch XFree86 4.3.0 with the radeonIGP driver patch and then rebuild XFree86. I have not patched or rebuilt anything before. I found many guides for patching kernels, but no clear guide to patching anything else. If someone wants to tell me how to do this I would be very happy.

Thanks!

Hi there,
Do you have source for the XFree86 or they just binaries. Most distros generally give the binaries and I assume you have them too. To patch anything you need the sources. Download the source from Xfree86's site and then follow the instructions you have got already. Hope that helps.
