Question No DVD/DVDRW recognized in Debian testing on IBM T43

I've just installed Debian testing with kernel 2.6.8-1-386 and SATA enabled (hard drives /dev/sda)
That time DVD-RW work well, after that I used "apt-get install linux-image-2.6.15.1.686",unfortunate DVD-RW drives are not regognised.

the "lsmod | grep cdrom" result is "cdrom 33280 1 ide_cd".

I find some information from /var/log/syslog

Well, ATAPI is disabled, you can read it. Then you should recompile the kernel with ATAPI enabled.

It's the kernel...

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Proble...disk_interface

That should tell you all you need to know. Good luck burning a cd though... I get OPC errors... In fact I was googling it and searching these forums when I came upon your post
