Newbie question: downloading debian sarge.

Hi all, I've never used Debian, but I'd like to. So I went to linuxquestions.org downloads section and found like 16 iso images to dowmload. My question is: is it necessary to download all these iso images including the businesscard iso and the netinst iso?? (My purpose is to burn the iso's to cd's and install from there, not to do a net install).
Thanks in advance.

i think this questions gets asked at least once a week.

check out the debian cd FAQ
http://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#which-cd

or if you are too lazy for that. basically the net install cd is just to start up
your system to installation, the rest of the packages get downloaded
during installation. i would recommend the first cd because you're going to
use most of those packages and if you stuff something up you don't need
to redownload alot. Any other packages that aren't on the first one you
can just download when you use apt-get.

but basically you need only the first cd to install debian, the rest are
just extra packages that you can download as you need them, becuase
most you wont use

---You will be surprised on how accurate the information within the faq is, and how big is the amount of time you save by reading documentation related to your specific topic.....mind you....the people in the forum will try to help you (as much as they can, sure), but the faq is written directly by the people who maintain/build the pack/image/program you want to install/test/run. I used to forget this previous step to post in the forum...until I realized that it was far better for me trying other things prior to posting.....In many ocassions I succeeded in solving the stuff with no post written.

Greetings,

Yes, you're right. www.google.com/linux is a good option to find answers. I have solved lots of issues by going there. Anyway, I was so astonished with the amount of cd's that decided to ask.
