Need to connect to Appletalk under gnome

I'm trying to connect to an all mac network under Sid w/Gnome 2.8. Is there any way to connect AppleTalk Filesharing (I have the IP and password)?

I've not used it to connect to Mac networks, but It works great to connect Macs to a Win/Linux network. You want to look at netatalk(it's apt-getable). As far as a gnome app to do this goes, I don't know of any off the top of my head. Maybe I'll dig a little and report back.

Okay, after digging around a bit, I see the general concensus is that you can't connect a linux baox to an Appletalk share as a client. You can go the other way around and have the linux box BE the share that the Mac connects to.

The only other real possibility I see is to install samba on the shared Mac (assuming it's running OS X). If you were to do that, you can use Gnome's native network browser to connect up. This also has the added benefit (to some eyes) of allowing MSFT boxes to connect if needed.

Not really what you wanted to hear, I'm sure, but I hope it helps.

Found samba

I tried looking in the network browser under gnome, and it found a windows network (I guess running samba). I guess my admin gave me the wrong info, thanks.
