LPT port disapeared

Hi

I have been running Debian on my server for a while now with VMware server and mapping the LPT port to /dev/parport1 but I have been having problems. first time the problem accoured I think it just wasnt able to access the port, but that time I jsut reinstalled as I had been doing things to the server that made it unstable. but this time all was good then next I was unable to access it from my user account so I changed the permissions to 777 on the port this worked for a while then next time I knew I was getting problems again. when I went to investigate the port has disapeared.

If anyone has any ideas on what I can do to attempt to correct the problem I would much aprechiate it

Viperuk
