Little problem with X (fluxbox)

I just installed debian sarge from scratch. Updated to 3.1 stable, and using kernel 2.6.8-2.

I installed X successful, after that I installed Fluxbox. When I did startx, everything seems to work fine. But when i look in my .xsession-errorlog the following shows up:

Quote:
Xsession: X session started for root at Mon Jun 27 12:36:29 CEST 2005
Failed to load groupfile:
apps file failure
BScreen::BScreen: managing screen 0 using visual 0x23, depth 24
Tried to google around, but nothing did work for me. Could someone plz point me in a direction?

tnx in advance!

Hi.

It just means it couldn't find ~/.fluxbox/apps (and the similarly located groupfile). It's not really an error, it's more for your information.

Check the Fluxbox man page to see what those files do. (I don't use these files myself, so I always get these 'errors' too).

I think fluxbox should create the ~/.fluxbox/apps automatically when you click some application's titlebar and save the settings for that app. In case this doesn't happen automatically, you can create the file manually with "touch ~/.fluxbox/apps".

It appears that you've started fluxbox as root. Starting X session as root is a very bad practice and it can lead to many unexpected problems later on. If you want to avoid unnecessary problems, you should always login as normal user and then use "su" or "gksu" to do system administration tasks.
