Question linux freeze on startup because of acpi

hi,

i´ve running with linux debian sarge kernel 2.6.8-2
on startup, my linux freeze because of a acpi prob..

The last message is: ACPI: subsystem version 2004...
then the system hangs..

In BIOS i can change acpi to on and off, the result is the same...freeze on startup

Anybody an idea?

You have to put

Code:
acpi=off
in /boot/grub/menu.lst at the end of the line where your kernel is mentioned.
ie
Code:
kernel          /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-1-k7 root=/dev/hda1 ro vga=791 acpi=off
