knoppix VS screensavers and ethernet cards

ok .. as the subject already says I've got 2 little problems>
1. getting screensavers to work on a knoppix system (using KDE 3.2.2)
I couldn't find any of those standard KDE screensavers, but only after installing it on HD ..before that everything worked just fine

2. knoppix doesn't seem to remember some of it's comfiguration for example the setup of a network card, the hardware itself is detected correctly ... but knoppix always trys to set up the card using DHCP ..which is not available

can anybody help solve those problems ?

thanks Goo

If you type "netcardconfig" as root it should give you the option of using dhcp or a static ip address.

I don't use Knoppix myself, but being based on Debian just like OZ on my Zaurus, there should be the file /etc/network/interfaces that looks something like this
Code:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
iface eth0 inet static
   address 192.168.1.2
   netmask 255.255.255.0
   gateway 192.168.1.1
iface usbd0 inet static
   address 192.168.129.201
   netmask 255.255.255.0
   gateway 192.168.129.200
(That should be fairly self-explanatory)
