Kernel upgrade failure.

Okay, here's the scoop:

Had a working Sarge install with the 2.6.8 kernel that cam with that. Wanted to upgrade to Etch. Edited sources.list file accordingly, updated. Installed linux-image-2.6-686 (2.6.15-1-686) and all of its dependancies. Reboot to boot the new kernel and do dist upgrade, fails. Errror says:
Code:
ALERT! /dev/ida/c0d0p1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
I can still boot 2.6.8, I did so, did a dist-upgrade, which completed successfully. Tried the new kernel again, no luck. Removed and purged the linux-image-2.6-686... reinstalled... no luck.

The system is: Compaq Proliant 1600(dual Pentium III 500mhz/ 1GB of RAM) with Compaq Smart Array 3200...

2.6.8 boots fine, sees device as /dev/ida/c0d0p1 2.6.15 has the same settings... fails during boot with the above message..

Someone please help!

After talking with a couple of other people, they had mentioned this. I tried it, and it still failed. But as I watched it build the initrd i noticed it was using mkinitramfs. So I did the same thing, only to /etc/mkinitramfs/modules. It is now working properly.

Thanks for the help! Now I can get back to actually WORKING on this server.. heh.
