KDE not starting

Hello,

I have installed Debian 5 and during installation I selected KDE desktop. It seems that it has installed KDE as I can see a directory /et/KDE3/ but when the system boots it boots in TWM.

Does anyone know why it may be happening.

Thanks

Don't know how that happened. Stuff happens.

You should be able to select what you want at the log-in screen. I can't get there right now but I believe it's "sessions" or something like that. Select KDE and you should be good to go.

KDE isn't an option when I look at sessions. Only TWM

That's an odd situation. I'm gonna have to do some digging to find out how the session selection list is populated.

Are you sure you installed kde and not just xorg? TWM is provided by xorg by default so as to have a "desktop" to begin with.

Which login manager do you have? What kde* packages do you have installed already?
Just in case
Code:
apt-get install kde-core kdm

I have resolved the issue by reinstalling KDE (aptitude install KDE). It seems that it ddn't install KDE completely. Even though I selected KDE during installation. Looks like its a bug

Good deal. This comes up regularly and the session selection usually takes care of it. I don't understand how KDE might not install completely but, no matter, you're fixed.
