They are probably defined by locale.
why do you need to change them?
what are they now, and what do you want them to be?
maybe you can start evolution with a different locale, or use a different local altogether.

ok.
you can start the application in question with e.g.
Code:
LANG=hi_IN gsimplecal
that would show a calendar in hindi (i think).
but you also have to have the locale installed, i believe one does that with
Code:
locale-gen
but first you have to edit /etc/locale.gen and uncomment the locale you want to use.

if you want that, you have to implement it yourself.
it will most probably never work with evolution.

the usual way to change languages is through locale, locale-gen.
i don't know how the internal workings of locale are; maybe you could create your own locale that just changes month names?

in any case, YOU have to start reading some documentation if you want to get anywhere with this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Locale
https://wiki.debian.org/Locale
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Locale

there is no readymade for your requirements.

linux puts you in the driver seat, but if you don't work the pedals, nothing will happen...

But at restart nothing was changed! Maybe you know beter where are the file used buy sistem clock?

i take these info from
Quote:
https://wiki.debian.org/Locale#Manually

Manually

Edit the file /etc/locale.gen and add your locale settings (one set per line), e.g.:

de_DE.UTF-8 UTF-8
de_DE ISO-8859-1
de_DE@euro ISO-8859-15

The supported locales are listed in /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED.

Run the command locale-gen

Run the command locale -a to verify the list of available locales; note that the spellings change.

If you've upgraded to Lenny and you have leftover LANG=... content in /etc/environment, you should comment it out.
To use the new settings with your programs, log out and back in.

I don't remember exactly (and didn't take notes when I was experimenting with this), but you modified only the source file for the locale. You will subsequently have to "compile" it in order to actually use your modifications. I'm not sure if the locale-gen command will do that, or if some extra step is required, though.

Hi luvr!

locale-gen did help me and it all work fine. But i have another 2 questions:

a) where to find a program or a web site for encoding decoding letters and numbers to these and from these:

Code:
"<U0069><U0061><U006E>";"<U0066><U0065><U0062>";/
        "<U006D><U0061><U0072>";"<U0061><U0070><U0072>";/
        "<U006D><U0061><U0069>";"<U0069><U0075><U006E>";/
        "<U0069><U0075><U006C>";"<U0061><U0075><U0067>";/
        "<U0073><U0065><U0070>";"<U006F><U0063><U0074>";/
        "<U006E><U006F><U0076>";"<U0064><U0065><U0063>"
b) How to change year that is shown, i find out about old time counting, if to take these in count now is not year 2016 but 7516 from world flood, biblical i mean. so i want to change only year from 2016 to 7516 without changing day names associated with day numbers, i mean without changing internal calendar work.

That's Unicode. You can use, e.g., the Unicode Character Table to encode or decode this.

Hmmm... That's a tough one. I'm not aware of a way to switch to a different calendar. Also, if I understand you correctly, you want your system to continue to use the common (so-called Gregorian) calendar, but you want it to show you the dates according to a different calendar. There may exist some utility to handle dates according to different calendars, but I'm afraid I cannot help you with this.

You understand me partially correctly, i want only year to be shown different, so far.

Also maybe you know some email or phone number of some administrator from: http://forums.debian.net/index.php?s...2538a6720794a3

You mean, you do remember your user name? If so, then just click Login, and on the next page, click "I forgot my password". You will then receice an e-mail explaining what to do next.

That was a typing error i can not remember my user name. to be more precisely i remember it,
but at password recovery i receive: The e-mail/username information submitted could not be found.

If i try to register another account i receive: The entered e-mail address is already in use.

Also is there a option to show in top bar after month name the year? PrtScn Attached.

I'm not sure, but perhaps you could type your e-mail address instead of your (apparently incorrect) username?

You appear to be using GNOME 3 Shell. I'm not familiar with it, but to the best of my knowledge, it doesn't support all that many customisation options. You may get somewhere with the GNOME Tweak Tool, but even that is fairly limited, I believe. Other than that, there may be some kind of GNOME Shell Extension to provide what you are looking for. I'm afraid I cannot offer you any further help with this question, though.

Sorry for the belated reply, but your username there seems to be Calin Roman. Does that make sense?
