Help installing Debian Etch

My problem is that I dont know how to get the installer to do a full install from the two DVD images I have. I cannot install from the network, which is why I have the DVDs. I go through the install process and skip anything about using mirrors. Everything is good, except it doesnt install everything. If I try apt-cdrom add, then apt-get install xxx, it says that the packages cant be found, but when I add the cd it says it was added to sources. Im not sure what to do, I would like to do a full install of everything on both disks, any suggestions? Thanks

I guess the DVD's ISO format isn't recognised. I had the same problem installing Sarge on an AM2 platform. Worked around it by installing a PCI network card with a supported chipset. Maybe you could work around it by installing the DVD-R+W tools (and it's dependencies) so the disc is recognised. Find the required .deb packages at http://packages.debian.org/ Of course this only works if you have a second PC available :P It might also be helpfull to copy the DVD's (better: their contents) to a separate partition on the harddrive and use that as your source.

Is there an easier way? It recognizes the disks in the drive and adds it to the sources.list, so I dont really think it is that anyway

It certainly would help if you could connect the machine to the Internet, but you've mentioned it couldn't so that's a no-brainer I had thoughts about mounting the disc, but you've already said that the discs are recognised and that means they're mounted. I'm out of idea's right now...

Looks alright to me, but I have no experience on local repositories so I'm not sure about how it should be presented in the sources.list. Did you try to mount the disc manually and copy the contents to the harddrive?
