garnome 2.9.91 on sid


download garnome in 'cipherfunk.org/garnome/'

tar jxf garnome-2.9.91.1.tar.bz2
cd garnome[Tab]
vi R[Tab]
:q

# Do this through 'su' (as root)
apt-get install ccache
ln -s /usr/bin/ccache /usr/local/bin/gcc
ln -s /usr/bin/ccache /usr/local/bin/g++
ln -s /usr/bin/ccache /usr/local/bin/cc

ccache -M 3G

# NOTE: Should compile garnome as user, not root!

vi gar.conf.mk
# uncomment this
GARCHIVEDIR = /home/[put your current user name here]/garnome/DOWNLOAD
# anything else, uncomment for your case
:wq

apt-get install [package name here]

# it takes 0.2 ~ 2 hours(not exactly), it depends on internet bandwidth.
# it download 'almost' sources for garnome 2.9.91 in /home/[user name]/garnome/DOWNLOAD

pwd
/home/[user name]/garnome-2.9.91.1
cd desktop
make install
# it takes 2 ~ 6 hours(not exactly.) it depends on your computer performance.
# something can't be compiled and give some errors but don't worry.

cd
pwd
/home/[user name]

# i am using gnome through 'startx', so
vi .xinitrc
# paste or write this
#!/bin/sh
GARNOME=$HOME/garnome
PATH=$GARNOME/bin:$GARNOME/sbin:$PATH
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$GARNOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
PYTHONPATH=$GARNOME/lib/python2.3/site-packages
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$GARNOME/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/lib/pkgconfig
XDG_DATA_DIRS=$GARNOME/share
XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=$GARNOME/etc/xdg
GDK_USE_XFT=1
export PATH LD_LIBRARY_PATH PYTHONPATH PKG_CONFIG_PATH GDK_USE_XFT XDG_DATA_DIRS XDG_CONFIG_DIRS
exec $GARNOME/bin/gnome-session

# and done, next startx you will see gnome 2.9.91.1 on debian sid.
