# and /usr/share/doc/grub-doc/.

## default num
# Set the default entry to the entry number NUM. Numbering starts from 0, and
# the entry number 0 is the default if the command is not used.
#
# You can specify 'saved' instead of a number. In this case, the default entry
# is the entry saved with the command 'savedefault'.

## timeout sec
# Set a timeout, in SEC seconds, before automatically booting the default entry
# (normally the first entry defined).

where are your partitions exactally? is hda5 debian, and hda1 fedora? either way, try hitting c when grub boots and try booting it manually.. you will have to define where the root, then wehre the kernel is, then boot. if you can do that, then you may be able to find out what is wrong with the config file. grub commands have tab completion so if you say

kernel /dev/hda1/

and hit tab, it will give the directories available then try

kernel /dev/hda1/boot

and hit tab till you find the kernel.. then try booting...

ou mgiht also try

man grub

whe you aer in debian.
