Hi there, SpiralLinux creator here. You're correct about it being a blend, or I would call it a "spin", because by design SpiralLinux doesn't have any of its own packages or repos. But the part about "reliance on GitHub" is definitely not correct. I mainly use it a free and reliable host for the SpiralLinux home page and issues tracker and forums. None of the actual development happens in Github, I develop the Debian live-build configurations on my personal workstation and then build the ISOs in a VPS, and upload the ISOs to Sourceforge (not Github). The final step is to simply create tarballs of the SpiralLinux configuration for each flavor and then I use the Github interface to upload the tarballs mainly for those who are interested in inspecting the configuration or creating their own spins. But none of the actual development workflow or integration pipelines or git commits or pull request features of Github are used. It's just a dumb static file deposit site.

As for "determining stability", again I'd like to emphasize the fact that SpiralLinux does not modify any Debian packages or create its own repos. This is by design to avoid something as insanely complex as an operating system depending on a single person like me. So SpiralLinux should be approximately as stable as a vanilla Debian installation. It's true that my configuration changes could negatively affect the way the system behaves, but I try to avoid that, and I've even included fixes via configuration workarounds for several significant bugs that are present in Debian Stable. At any rate, what you see is what you get-- if you install SpiralLinux and it works well today, then you won't get any breaking changes from me in the future, because there is no connection between me and the installed system; I exclusively provide a different installation method with an alternative configuration, but you won't receive any future online updates from me ever.
