debian -506-amd64-netinst on a laptop

Debian-506-amd64-netinst.iso on compa presario F500 laptop.

KDE is up but mouse not working, neither is touchpad.

During install ran laptop-detect and laptop-mode-tools as instructed.

The first command simply returned to prompt, the second gave "command not found".

Any suggestions welcome - thanks. Assume i need to edit something - will google more also.

Found help here:
http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/mouse.htm

although the file was /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Had to reboot for it to work. Didn't do the touch pad section but it works also.

Do you have the relevant parts for keyboard/mouse/touchpad on your xorg.conf?

Debian stable is on xorg 1.4, so it demands a proper xorg.conf.
