Can only startx as root

I am unable to startx from my user, only with root. I receive an error saying "Waiting for x server to shutdown", I've tried switching to init1, then back to 2 with no effect.

I've tried logging in with root and switching to my user in terminal and initiating shutdown, but that didn't work either.

This started after I logged off from desktop environment which dropped me to shell, which I logged out from there and rebooted.

Contents of the error log are attached. For whatever reason, it's not using my previous settings and using an empty xorg.conf file.

File Type: log Xorg.0.log (24.1 KB, 16 views)
