Bad Archive Mirror
Hello,
First of all, sorry for my bad english i'm dutch!
Oke, i'm trying to install debian on my system! but every time when i'm at the: Configure the package manager it goes wrong!
With every mirror i'll choose i'll get a: Bad Archive Mirror error...
I have tried some different pci network cards, and during the network adapter scan it detects both the on board en the pci lan card, and I've try them!
But it keeps going wrong with the Configure the package manager..
Anyone any idea?
Greetingz,
Jos Vink

You didn't say what branch you're trying to install. Squeeze, Lenny, Etch or even older.
Try Knoppix, Ubuntu or Linux Mint as Live CD to see if your NIC is properly recognised. If it is, use the script offered
here and post the outcome here. Use the code tags for that...
PM me in Dutch if you got really stuck...

Well, on the hardware level your internet connection works. To see if the problem might be DNS, issue these commands:
Code:
sudo ping -c 5 74.125.79.147
sudo ping -c 5 google.com
These do precisely the same thing: request a connection to one of Google's servers. Therefor, the results should be more or less equal. If not, the issue is DNS.
One more thing: it's wise to disable IPv6, at least for now, as this complicates troubleshooting.

I could. But if you search for it, you'll find plenty of information. Hint: use the search option of this forum, I've contributed to at least one such thread
