Alert messages

I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy.
An alert pops up telling me my printer is not connected and if I dismiss it it pops up again in a few seconds. Its on top of every other window and takes up part of my screen. Of course I know my printer is not connected! I don't want it connected.

How do I stop these messages?
