- Format the pendrive with gparted as fat16 or 32
- download :
51M dsl-4.4-embedded.zip
- mount pendrive
- unpack zip to pendrive
- unmount pendrive
- syslinux -s /dev/sdX1
then if you cannot boot with your old pc, use a floppy disk with plpbt.img, choose ctrl esc if noticed, then click on boot via USB
Code:
Download the current boot manager plpbt-5.0.7.zip. Extract it to get the floppy disk image plpbt.img.
DOS: You can use diskimg.com with diskimg -d a -w plpbt.img
Windows: Write the disk image with the program rawwritewin to the floppy disk
Linux: dd if=plpbt.img of=/dev/fd0
Btw, I would like to install damnsmalllinux on a 4GB drive, from the live-pendrive that I just made. Is it possible, with a regular non-busy box on the hdd and working like a normal linux?
I was trying to get a dsl boot from usb for ages on my system, after faffing around with formatting and grub it finally booted but only to black screens on my toshiba tablet.
Got Puppy linux instead - a little bigger but had a bootable usb installation in about 5 minutes after putting a live cd in. Runs from ram so is incredibly quick - i would recommend it.
