ssh problem -after upgrades

To all:

I reintsalled centos 6.7 on my client cpu and installed centos 7.0 on my server cpu

My setup is:

I have a comcast router as an edge device to my entire LAN, that router is hard-wired to a Buffalo
router, the Buffalo router has a Netgear Gigabit switch with my client cpu and my server cpu.

Both cpu's acutally have Centos Desktop loaded

THE COMCAST router has a port-forward for Port 28585 on 10.0.0.1 to Port 28585 10.0.0.4
10.0.0.1 is the backside of comcast router, the 10.0.0.4 is the frontside of the buffalo router.

I then try to run an ssh -vvv -4 name@ipaddress command and I get the following error:

ssh -vvv -4 rybo@142.23.0.10
OpenSSH_5.3p1, OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips 11 Feb 2013
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: Applying options for *
debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0
debug1: Connecting to 142.23.0.10 [172.25.0.21] port 22.
debug1: connect to address 142.23.0.10 port 22: Connection refused
ssh: connect to host 142.23.0.10 port 22: Connection refused

My sshd_config file has Port 28585 set.

Why am I getting the Port 22 error and why can I not connect?

We don't know how you fix the problem in your other thread so...

Did you restart ssh after making changes to the sshd config file.
Did you change the firewall to allow traffic on the desired port.
You need to specify the port using the -p option if other then the default (22).

michaelk,

I didn't fix the problem in the other thread. i decided to upgrade! I attended the redhat 7.0 class and needed a redhat/centos 7.0 cpu.

I had restarted ssh, so I know that is not the problem.
I think i may have a firewall problem, but am not to sure how to check it on centos 7.0

do i need to use the -p if i had changed the sshd_config to use my new port number?

Yes. This seems to be a good tutorial. You need specify your port number/tcp and not use ssh.
