CLDX 23 installer does not accept root password definition

Hi! I am trying to install Calculate Linux from Live Installer CLDX 23 but when I reach the stage of defining the root password I keep getting a warning message:
Quote:
Password must contain at least 8 symbols
and the installer won't let me proceed.

I have done my best trying to come up with strong passwords containing all of uppercase, lowercase, digits and "symbols" whatever that may mean in this context. I suppose some subset of the set of special characters, but just this is a bit too vague.

My latest attempt was
Quote:
m3!a2#r5$L%&*@?
and it was not accepted.

The solution reported at the Calculate-Linux forum thread https://forum.calculate-linux.org/t/...-setup/11397/6, namely using just upper case, lower case and digits with no "symbol characters" has not worked for me.

I am running the installer in swedish with a swedish keyboard and have noticed that“Caps Lock” is not working under CLDX-23 Live. “Shift” seems to work allright. “Caps Lock” is working normally under other Linux distros in the same machine (it is a multiboot desktop).

I tested the installer on another machine and it was the same symptoms all the way.

What must I do?

If this prompt appears after installing a working system to the drive, maybe you could try changing to a different tty, chmod into the system and use useradd and gpasswd to set this manually.

Thanks for your - 1 out of 187 ! - interest in being helpful.

Unfortunately the installer stops me from proceeding without defining the root password. And when it allows me to proceed without that error it asks me for a guest password and then stops me there.

I am not sure whether it stops me by not offering a place where to input the guest password or whether it expects me to input it to the same "root password" where I did input the root password and then refuses to accept whatever I input there.

But thanks indeed !

There is also the possibility to install Calculate Linux via an assisted command line installer.
https://wiki.calculate-linux.org/ins...n_console_mode
If the GUI installer has already done the partitioning and mounted the drives, I guess you can skip that part.

Thanks again dosensuppe.

I did try installing from console also, but got another kind of problem, as in https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...27-4175723909/ (cl-install-cannot-overwrite-non-directory-%27-run-calculate-mount-install-var-calculate-bin)

These two errors have occurred both in two "Core 2 Duo" machines as well as in an "Intel i5" machine which has been swiftly running an updated installation of the 22 version for quite a while. I have not had Calculate installed on any "Core 2 Duo" but I have run the Live USB version successfully in two of them.

Maybe provide some information?
Which command did you issue that this error occured. It looks to me like you specified a wrong directory?
