Conncting and checking out file from a remote unix machine

Posted 07-03-2008 at 11:22 PM by sk_brahma2008

Hi,

I have my cvs installed in a remote unix machine. I am using WinCVS as the client to connect to the CVS server. I have cvs as the admin and cvsuser1 as a cvs user.

When I login as cvs I am able to do so from the WinCVS, however not able to check out the file. Whenever I login as cvsuser1 I get an error. I have noted down the log for each of the cases. Let me know what could be the reason for the same?

When login as CVS
cvs -d :pserver;username=cvs;password=cvs;hostname=172.28.16.102;port=2403:/usr/cvs/pol... login
Logging in to :pserver:cvs@172.28.16.102:2403:/usr/cvs/polo

***** CVS exited normally with code 0 *****

When login as CVS and trying to checkout a module
cvs -d :pserver:cvs@172.28.16.102:/usr/cvs/polo checkout -P -- /usr/cvs/polo/ProjectX (in directory D:\POLO)
cvs [checkout aborted]: Server configuration missing --allow-root in inetd.conf

***** CVS exited normally with code 1 *****

When login as cvsuser1
cvs -d :pserver;username=cvsuser1;password=cvs;hostname=172.28.16.102;port=2403:/usr/cv... login
Logging in to :pserver:cvsuser1@172.28.16.102:2403:/usr/cvs/polo
cvs [login aborted]: setuid failed: Not owner

***** CVS exited normally with code 1 *****

Note: The smiley refer to :p(so its :pserver).

Thanks,
Sagar
