Lirc & xbmc time

The Enna media center project stagnating, and the KDE Plasma Media center being developed in GSoC bursts, I got back to using xbmc. xbmc supports lirc, and having an imon panel with a remote, I finally decided to set it up.

The key here was understanding that the iMon device is now supported in the kernel using the new infrastructure. What this did is make the iMon device send normal input events. (I think this is mostly because it does the IR decoding directly in hardware). What...

Wanted configuration :

user kde can play sound using the Optical output
user enna can play via analog and optical simultaneously (optionaly HDMI)
Both users can play via Optical at the same time
Both have access to an upmixing device that encodes the stream into A52 and sends via the Optical output

first we name the outputs (link numbers to names, this will be different on your hardware) and add a dmix device for the digital output to the global asoundrc:

X dual head, one graphic card

X configuration

Goal : 2 separate X screens working as dual-head(like 2 mice, 2 keyboards), powered by one graphic card(nvidia ion, 1st gen).

features used :

X multiple screens (Zaphod mode?)
MPX (multiple input X)

M/B : Zotac ION-ITX F E(PDF brochure)
Remote/LCD Display : iMon Ultrabay(discontidued)
