I like OpenBSD. Minus about 2 tiny details, it really is (IMHO) the most superior OS on the planet. Sure, I'm a fanboy, I admit it freely =)
One of those "2 tiny details" is the lack of a flash player for OpenBSD. I mean, sure, there's the opera-linux-emulation-crapola that's hovering between vaporware and "our project admin died and we forgot to tell you" (it's still flash 7...flash 10 is out now!). Blarg. There must be a better way.

It's been said that learning from other's mistakes is truly the "divine" way to learn, as you don't have to experience the pain of the mistake firsthand. While I agree with this to an extent, I also believe that nothing can take the place of firsthand experience. Yesterday afternoon one of my coworkers enlisted the help of employees company wide to load test a project we'd worked on together about a year ago. He'd made significant changes to the application server and wanted to see how much the server could handle in raw traffic/requests. So at 2:30 PM, half of the company I work for started hitting the application server running bogus reports...

I don't even know what to type out for this blog...I mean, I know what I want to say...I just don't know **how** to go about wording it. See, I've been under the impression that Microsoft and vendors who utilize Microsoft products write easy to use operating systems and software suites. Today I noticed something strikingly similar to "Linux user-unfriendliness".

I routinely get requests from management like "I need a list of the urls and the sizes of databases for our <product_name> sites!" This, I can tell you, is NOT something I want to figure out by hand (not with 300 production databases and a slew of training, demo, test, etc... databases as well). No, there is a better, more relaxed way...a way that includes plenty of time for me to check my e-mail, go get a cup of coffee, and chat with my co-workers...
