Odds and ends on Life with Linux. Although I'm a diehard Debian user, you may find my raves and ramblings entertaining. I'm intentionally writing my posts in a somewhat light style, hoping to foster as many dialogues with visitors - yes, that's you - as I can.
Getting my hands on a PVR for free
Tags nas, pvr, television
Not since the danish television network went digital have I had a regular video recorder like the VHS machine everyone once owned.
Sure, commercial products exist, but are usually crippled - recordings cannot be exported for long time storage.
A PC running some kind of PVR software will do the trick, but drains power and makes noise. No go.
Hmmmm...
So, I thought to myself: What's always on in my home, and does not consume oodles of energy?
The NAS device!

And now the company has released Video Station.
Wonderful. Goes to show that it is not always a waste of time, giving feedback to companies
