My nephew JJ is almost two: so of course I'm setting him up a (literally this (now on Xfce; LibreOffice Writer; Iceweasel; Google Drive) computer (vaio-pcv-r556ds | Linux-Debain-Crunchbangcrun\#!-Openbox\*). For the first year I will lock it down with baby-friendly programs mostly only icons and widgets (e.g: solar system, bouncing ball, sliding block puzzle, moon and stuff) so no taskbar on WMs like: Educational Desktops(most *nix flavors offer free Edu-D-tops i.g. Sugar or educational-desktop-lxde and on, using Synaptic\others in #!) plus other D-tops as well so no down time just pick another environment and I will fix the other; Encyclopedias\Dictionaries, VLC(for movies\video, music and pictures), Tux Paint, AMOR, games-galore(!), Pysycache, Gcompriscompris, BlinKEn, Childsplay and an old TV tuner with a digital convert box(lets face it desktop effects will give him years of enjoyment). Iím also using thriftstore keyboards and such plus plexiglass over the old LCD monitor. DVDs and CDs \tower he will not touch for a long time (even longer in his uoıʇdǝɔɹǝd)...

Did I come up with this as JJs because I'm loving #!,,, maybe?
Altogether (not even +pun:) $100\Ä76 and a few hours learning;;; for him a lifetime. . .

Thanks All!

Thanks. I wish I got started at two like my other nephew (now nine) who is learning to use Blender and Scratch in order to mod+ Rigs of Rods. They are so smart now a days.
