Pathology: Two Years of Linux

Posted 11-26-2009 at 05:35 PM by fullmetalgerbil

So it's been just about two years that I've been using Linux. I started off just out of sheer curiosity, and like many people my first distribution was Ubuntu. It was ok, but I wanted to try other distros and I used BLAG Linux for a while then wound up on Debian testing for a good bit. Then I went sorta apeshit and tried out about 20 different distributions before finally settling on Slackware which is still my favorite eventhough I'm currently running AntiX. Actually it's kind of a tie between the two, but Slackware edges ahead just on the strength of its rock solid stability.
I've still had to use Windows from time to time in the past two years, and I never really had a huge hard on for Microsoft or anything-I mean, I wasn't [I]massively[I] disappointed with Windows, it just turned out I wound up preferring Linux.
At any rate, it's been an adventure and I figure Linux is going to be around for a long while so I've got plenty more years to enjoy it.

Out of interest, would you recommend people start with Ubuntu like you did or something else, like a derivative of Ubuntu or something entirely different?
