Gens - Sonic The Hedgehog

Posted 03-07-2010 at 07:24 AM by dsmyth

Sonic the Hedgehog on Linux... fandabbydosy!!

1. Download the source code for the Gens/GS emulator
(release 7 at time of writing)

http://info.sonicretro.org/Gens/GS#Stable_Release

2. Unzip the package and then do the "./configure && make && sudo make install" shuffle.

If the configuration step fails you might need to resolve some dependencies. There was one dependency missing on this machine; yum'd it from the repo

3. Type gens at the terminal... one sega mega drive!

4. Visit http://www.freeroms.com; look for the Genesis section. Download all the nostalgia you need. Unzip the nostalgia and open in Gen/GS.

SEGA!

If the graphics look blocky then press F11 and that will smooth them off....
