What my test PC will be doing next!

I think the hard drive on my test box is dead or dying... So, I'm going to take the opportunity to get hold of a bigger (120GB as opposed to 20GB) drive for my little machine and then install the LXDE spin of openSUSE.
I really like LXDE as a lightweight environment. For me, it's unassuming and usable in a way that other lightweight desktops/window managers aren't. My first experience of Linux was a boxed set of SuSE 7.3 (I think) so it'll be nice to see what openSUSE has to offer. I'm fairly confident that although all my real Linux experience is Debian based, I can get my test box to perform the tasks it was doing before it started throwing error messages and locking up. I'm sure I'll post here as and when anything of interest occurs with my new setup.

Hey with 120 gig you will have enough room for 6 to 8 distros and even more if you want to squeeze.Posted 04-09-2011 at 06:51 PM by Larry Webb

I hadn't thought of that! Multi boot might be a good idea! At least dual boot maybe antiX and openSUSE.

I just installed the beta Mageia Linux on a HP Athlon 64 I recently purchased. The machine also have a small hd, 40gb & 512mb ram. I think I'll upgrade both of those and I will have a nice running machine. Mageia is running on it fairly well for now, it is the 64bit version.
