cannot connect to internet

please can someone help me I have a linksys router connect tomy laptop that needs an ethernet card becaues of the age of the laptop I also had a friend that up graded it from win 98 to 98 millennium, my problem is that all is connected from the router to the card . everything is lit up . then i get internet uable to link no page to display. so please help.

    First, IMHO Win 98 to Win ME isn't an upgrade, and secondly, this is a Linux user group!

    We need more info. How is the router connected to the Internet? Which model Linksys is it?
