XF86Config-dobidooo, were are you?

I installed Arch and, as usual, everything went fine, until the moment I tried to startup X!
Ofcourse I installed all that was neceserry, Gnome and KDE included.
But when enter 'startx' it does start up gnome (or KDE when changed a config file), and everything seems fin, but my mouse is absolutely dead, nice
So I went on a journey of exploration within Arch and found out that I had not XF86Config file at all in my /etc/X11 directory!!
So I had a reaction like "WTF?!" ofcourse and now I ask you, my dear community , to suggest me a thing or two
Cheers

Can you do an Xfree update via console? I suppose you have lynx installed.

I'm not sure I understand. You should update your Xfree with pacman, and pacman runs from the console. To upgrade X do: "pacman -Sy xfree" (this will first get the newest package db information, then upgrade X)
The mouse thing is weird, I'd assume it must be finding some config file though, have a look at the XFree86 logs in /var/log/ and you should find the name of the file it's using. You might also find what's wrong with the mouse. If you have an error about not finding /dev/mouse then you probably have the problem described in the FAQ here: http://www.archlinux.org/docs/en/gui...de.html#SEC6.8
If not, please post up the errors you find, and possibly the XF86Config file that is being used (I'm sure there must be one somewhere) and we'll see what we can do to help. Good choice on Arch, I think once you get over this problem you'll really start to enjoy it!

Not always...

If you're using USB mouse, you'll need to modprobe ohci-hcd, and then point the config to /dev/input/mouse0 probably.
