I have recently installed arch on a new computer, and am working on setting up networking. Unfortunately ethernet and wifi need me to install drivers so i have no networking on this computer until i get everything working. I have tried to follow the offline installation instructions on the arch wiki and install mc on the new computer as a test before i try to install the drivers I need. I have encountered a problem with the section of the article that tells me to create a repo in the new folder i created to act as a local repository for this one package. when i try this i get the error
Quote:
==> ERROR: Repository file 'mc-4.7.5.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz' is not a proper pacman database.
please help me, i really need to get this system working
Sorry about not being specific, this error appears when I try to crete a local repository, like in the link you sent me. Specifically I am using the command
First argument to repo-add is the repo database to be created, not the package that you want to put in it. Second argument is the path to the package files. It would be really nice if the docs actually gave useful examples.
