i couldn't login. it would timeout after 60 secs. caused by dbus?

this happened to me a year ago too, but i couldn't remember how i solved it. i would try to login, name and password, the wait, and wait, maybe 2 minutes, then it would say it timed out. i finally guessed what i did a year ago, and hid all the dbus* stuff in /etc/init.d, so they couldn't run. i was then able to log in. the system seems to work fine for me like that. what was dbus doing that kept me from logging in? this is a 32-bit distribution by way, if that matters.

Arch uses systemd and systemd uses dbus. Logins are controlled by systemd-logind, so I guess that is the program that is giving you grief.
