Firfox uses Nautilus instead of Thunar as file manager

This installation is about a month old. My DE is XFCE. Prefered Applications correctly lists file manager as Thunar. It makes no suggestions for alternatives inside dropdown menu.

When I attempt to save or upload any file using firefox a Nautilus window opens instead of Thunar. Pacman -Ss nautilus does not show nautilus as installed, though I guess it could conceivably be baked into firefox. I know firefox used to have options to set what application it associate "files" with, but the setting has either been removed or made obscure. This behavior is not replicated by any other software I am running; even thunderbird is correctly opening Thunar.

Is there anything I can do to rectify this behavior?

either nautilus is installed or it isn't.
so what you are seeing is not nautilus, but firefox' new gtk3 filechooser dialog.
if it disturbs you, firefox-gtk2 52 is in AUR.
