AIX command 'Smitty' needs in LINUX environment

Dear friend ,

In AIX , there is a command 'smitty fs' , using it i can increase/decrease the file system size dynamically AND also i can create a new file system or a mount point also .

Now my question is ,

Is there any third party tools for Linux OS , which helps to increase or decrease or create a new mount point fle system dynamically like AIX ?

here in this case , i have also a large space available in my HDD .

You have to setup your linux partitions to use the Logical Volume Manager or LVM. There concept is similar but the commands a bit different. lsvg in AIX would be vgdisplay in linux, lslv is lvdisplay.

Do a man on lvm or google linux lvm for all that you want to know.

I started using the LVM many years ago after seeing how powerful an LVM was in AIX. Ever since every Linux machine of mine has used the LVM. I use it for all but the root partition. I did that once and it was not worth the effort.
