4MLinux 22.0 STABLE released.

The status of the 4MLinux 22.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Create your documents with LibreOffice 5.4.0.1 and GIMP 2.8.22, share them using DropBox 28.4.14, surf the Internet with Firefox 54.0 and Chromium 59.0.3071.86, stay in touch with your friends via Skype 5.3.0.1 and Thunderbird 52.2.1, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 3.8.2, watch your favorite videos with MPlayer SVN-r37904 and VLC 2.2.6, play games powered by Mesa 13.0.4 and Wine 2.10. You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 4.9.33, Apache 2.4.25, MariaDB 10.2.6, PHP 5.6.30 and PHP 7.0.15). Perl 5.24.0 and Python 2.7.12 are also available.

4MLinux 22.0 comes with some amazing new features (Skype BETA, FreeCol game, support for the LUKS disk encryption, to name but a few examples). However, the biggest changes are related to the 4MLinux Server, which is now a feature-rich, the lightest and the fastest server suite available on the market. See the recently updated documentation for details.

4MLinux 22.0 happens to be my first release to test after picking up the news via Twitter. I am impressed with the work you've done so far. After just two days of playing around with it - on two older laptops - it has quickly became my new favorite mini-distro. I came here just to draw attention upon a small "issue" I found. To ease collaboration, you could add a git repo for next release. Anyway, the problem is with line 381 in file /etc/init.d/rcS. A user may lock itself out if he/she removes the file $HOME/.bashrc. Assuming he/she was already using bash as root, on next reboot that line will render a /bin/bbash shell in /etc/passwd, thus unable to execute.

My quick fix/proposal is shown below:

Quote:
OLD-381
sed -i 's/ash/bash/g' /etc/passwd
NEW-381
sed -i 's/\/ash/\/bash/g' /etc/passwd

Many thanks! It will be corrected soon.

PS.
In the future, please start a separate thread with the title saying something about its contents.

TheSSS 22.1 available for download.

This is a minor (point) release based on the 4MLinux Server 22.1, meaning that the components of the LAMP server are now: Linux 4.9.33, Apache 2.4.27, MariaDB 10.2.7, and PHP (both 5.6.31 and 7.0.21). The following servers have also been updated: DNS (BIND 9.11p3), SMTP (Postfix 3.2.2) and SSH (OpenSSH 7.5p1).

You can update your TheSSS by executing the "zk update" command (fully automatic process).

4MLinux 22.1 STABLE released.

This is a minor (point) release in the 4MLinux STABLE channel, which comes with the Linux kernel 4.9.40. The 4MLinux Server now includes Apache 2.4.27, MariaDB 10.2.7, and PHP 7.0.21 (see this post for more details). Additionally, some popular programs (Chromium, Java, PeaZip, SMTube) have been updated, too.
The 4MLinux ISO is about 100 MB bigger (than it used to be) due to the changes in the 4MLinux initrd image, which now includes the full set of the Linux firmware to provide better support for modern Ethernet and WiFi cards.

You can update your 4MLinux by executing the "zk update" command in your terminal (fully automatic process).
