problem installing addon_printing-drivers-34.tar.xz

Hi zk,

I have a problem with installing addon_printer-drivers-34.tar.xz
I performed a 4mlinux update, but this issue remained.
The best way to explain what happens when trying to install is by this short video.

https://c.gmx.com/@56290288524381460...SrGjdBjh7EMxgQ

Also, when I tick the box:"execute in terminal emulator", same happens.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards, Edward

ps. When updating, a message was shown. "LBA32 adressing assumed"
Might be another thread, but perhaps it's got something to do with above. Thanks!

Hi,

That is exactly how it works. My guess is that you have successfully installed printing drivers. Go to to Settings>Devices>Printer/CUPS to configure your printer.

PS.
The LBA LILO warning can be ignored.

Thanks for your quick reply!

I know how this works. :-)

Cups 'administration' says after ticking the 'find new printers' button:

'List Available Printers
Available Printers

No printers found.'

Printer is connected. Check.

I am puzzled.

Adding another video.

Kind regards!

(HP deskjet 3070A but that's not the issue.)

Perhaps that is because you are not logged into the CUPS interface. Go to the "Administration" menu and chose the "Add printer" option. You will be asked to log in.

Ahhhhh of course!
Even seasoned Linux users can overlook something obvious.
Many thanks and hopefully someone else might find this thread useful.

Ps, another reason why I thought the printer addon wasn't installed is because I
wasn't able to find it in the 'var' file. I thought every new addon installed would be placed in 'var'. So why isn't it there?

I'm glad the problem is solved
Optional packages are not copied to the /var/4MLinux folder. Only the main set of packages go there.
