Way of using package manager over http and a proxy?

Hi everyone, I am very new to Freebsd, I was just wondering if there is a way of getting the package manager to download packages over http instead of ftp and also for it to use a proxy??

Thanks in advance

You can set the environment variables http_proxy and ftp_proxy to the hostname:port of your http proxy, and it'll work great.

Code:
# If you use csh/tcsh
setenv http_proxy your.proxy.com:3128
setenv ftp_proxy your.proxy.com:3128

# If you use sh/bash
export http_proxy=your.proxy.com:3128
export ftp_proxy=your.proxy.com:3128

Thank you very much sigsegv, that was exactly what I wanted to know Is there anyway off the top of your head that you can make it only download packages via http??

I am going to read up on this anyway.

Thanks again

Well, not really. The port's Makefile lists the location of the tarballs it needs, so if they're on an FTP server, you either have to fetch them and drop them in /usr/ports/distfiles, or proxy the FTP connection over your HTTP proxy. The former is a pain in the butt, but the latter is as easy as setting ftp_proxy.

Thanks again sigsegv. I think I will just download manually the big packages and use the package manager for the smaller ones and getting dependencies
