Replace system HDD?

I suspect that our main production server's system HDD (FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE) with partitions /, /usr, /var is about to die, since we have suffered 8 system crashes with or without corruption of the /usr partition the last week.
What is the easiest way to replace that HDD with a new one?
Is it possible to simply copy the existing partitions to the new HDD, then remove the old HDD and boot up from the new one?

that should do you largely. you can just partition the new drive as you want and then copy accordingly. you could dd the entire drive if it's the same size, but it's best to recreate it if it's not.
