Help with editing rc.conf in single user mode

Hello,
i added ipmon to my rc.conf to start up. However, my machine freezes every time i start it in normall and safe mode. I need a way to get into my machine and change rc.conf back so that it doesnt start ipmon till i can solve the problem with ipmon.

thanks

boot into single user mode -> boot -s
mount the /etc/ slice (or if ou are lazy, like me, mount -a)
set the TERM variable -> TERM=vt220 && export TERM
edit your rc.conf
exit

and you're done
