I'am thinking of running FreeBSD on my desktop and quit sponsoring Bill.
My main concern is antivirus, does any know a good antivirus program for FreeBSD and that can scan/check my emails when I fetch them from the server or when I try to open them in my email client.
Or am I to paranoid with this from my days with windows?

The UFS file system doesn't really have anything to do with getting or not getting a virus. The point is that the only *n*x e-mail exploits I've ever heard of were for PINE, well OK I guess Thunderbird just recently had a vulnerability too... Any way I don't think there's been a single mass-mailed *n*x worm yet, all the current e-mail viruses target Windows-only and they cannot affect a non-Windows system.
It's still reasonable to run A-V software on any platform, but it's extremely unlikely (currently, any way) that you would receive an e-mail message that could exploit your system.
