3 xorg errors with FreeBSD 6.0

Hi!

I've done xorgconfig and my xorg.conf looks fine but 'startx' gives me the following 3 errors:

1.
Fatal server error:
xf86EnableIO: Failed to open /dev/io for extended i/o

2.
(WW) checkDevMem: failed to open /dev/mem (operation not permtted)

3.
xauth: (argv):1: bad display name "FreeBSD-Desk.Desk-FreeBSD:0" in remove command

I haven't compiled a kernel yet. I suppose I use the generic that comes with the 6.0-RELEASE. (newly installed system)

Anyone out there who is able to help me? Many thanks in advance!

For the first and second questions both options have to be compiled into your kernel, read the handbook on making a kernel. Now on your third question edit your /etc/hosts file and add this line to the end of it, 192.168.1.1 FreeBSD-Desk.Desk-FreeBSD that should solve your problem.

Ok then I understand =) One question though:

Should I put my dhcp servers ip in /etc/hosts cause it's 192.168.0.1 not 192.168.1.1 as you suggested. In fact there is no computer in my network with that ip...

Thanks!

If that's your host then yes that should work.

This is truly odd. Please post your kernel config file, and the *exact* steps you use to create and install your new kernel.

Cheers--
